Is Now the Time for Renewables?
COVID-19 has only intensified the debate on the renewable energy transition. The world’s incredible decrease in energy consumption caused by COVID-19, and the unprecedented collapse of the oil and gas markets, has some arguing that 2019 was the peak for oil, and clean energy will dominate in the years ahead. Still others, however, see cheap oil as a hit for renewables long-term, as struggling economies will turn to cheap fuels and oil production to power their industries. What is the future of the energy transition post-COVID-19?
